Saturday, 5/31/2014 a special cleanup was held for the purpose of repairing the retaining walls on the sides of the
entrance and begin to clear some of the brush and trash from the hills along the front facing the highway. I must say
that the turnout was pitiful, but those SEVEN RESIDENTS who were there were wonderful and a lot of work got done.
The seven were Ed Cleland, Ken Steffan, Dirk Ward, Terri and Steve Bateson, and Lorena and Jim Schwab. Jim and Ed
began by mortaring stones onto the wall, but quickly learned that when the mortar bag says it sets up in a hour, means
it is only workable for 10 minutes, thus they broke more mortar out of the bucket then went on the wall. Needless to say more work remains on the wall (after new mortar). The rest of the group worked on the south hill (Ed & Jim joined in).
Much was cleared on the south hill and you can really see the difference. More cleanups will need to be scheduled to
complete the tasks. Please plan on attending the the cleanups when they are scheduled. Announcements will be in the
minutes and are always posted on this Website. If you cannot participate, please consider a $25 donation to the
Association. If we cannot get enough help to get projects done, we may need to hire out and assess the cost to the
homeowners.
Saturday, 4/12/2014 was just a beautiful day for our Spring Cleanup and a lot got done. Seventeen owners were represented. Thanks go out to: Willis, Cleland's, Powell's, McGee's, Ward's, Huner's, R. Clark's, Joseph's, Estep's, Fetzek's, Schwab's, Sommers's, Kuhlman's,
Clegg's, Robinson's, Bateson's, and Thornton's. Also, thanks to A.J. Hotaling (Schwab's grandson) and his buddy Zach McCoy for helping and using their trucks and trailer. Of course, a BIG thanks to our fireman John Powell. As always we could always use more help, so
to those who did not participate, please consider joining in at the next cleanup. It is a lot of work, but it is fun as well. Also free pizza at 1 pm and liquid refreshments all day. Thanks to
Tina Thornton for the cookies, they were enjoyed by all.

Here are pictures of some things our neighbors have done over the summer
07/19/2014
Have you seen the deer fawn that is living in the residential area of our woods? I saw it last evening entering the woods near Ken Steffan's property. Dana Ward has a great picture of it and I will ask her to send to me to put on our website.
Also if you have been hearing some gosh awful noises lately in the evening and night, it is most likely a gray fox. Steve Bateson and I have seen it and it certainly looks like one. I have heard it, as have Sommers and Bateson's. Terri Bateson
did some searching on the Web and found an audio of a gray fox and believe me that is what I heard. (Click the following blue button for the audio). I talked with the Wildlife Officer and learned the following: The gray fox is quite small, weighing less than 20 lbs. They eat small rodents (mice, moles, voles, etc.) They won't normally mess with dogs, but might on occasion kill a small cat. They are very rare in our area. Coyotes will kill them. AND THEY CAN CLIMB TREES!
